Communication

Communication is the act of giving, receiving, or exchanging information, ideas, and opinions so that the message is understood by all participants. Although many people communicate with ease, effective communication is a complex, two-way process that can easily be disrupted. When disruptions occur, the overall interpretation and understanding of the message can be misunderstood or lost. In the Communication Navigation Essentials toolkit, you explore the nature of communication, the connection to behavior, and tools that can be used to support youth that struggle with the process. Watch the videos included in the Learn and Do sections of the toolkit. Discover strategies that can help support the youth to understand others, express their needs, and to socialize. Additional resources are available to dig deeper into learning more about communication.
