Skill Development


Supporting youth with IDD and complex behavioral health needs includes many areas of skill development. This section discusses three areas of consideration that are critical to youth skill development. All team members need to be aware of these areas of consideration to support and facilitate ongoing opportunities to support progress in these areas across all environments. Select resources that will assist you in learning more about an area of interest and the strategies to support and educate youth in the home, school, and community.

    Effective practices and predictors are research-based strategies that provide guidance in developing and improving youth skills for future life. The tool introduces the practices and predictors and includes a review tool to help identify areas of strength and areas to target for development.
